THE ANALYSIS OF DRILLING PUMP CLACK VALVES FAILURES

 

Background

Drilling pumps are characterized by significant number of failures and repair works correspondently. The operation capability of piston pumps is characterized by the work of hydraulic part. Abrasive or aggressive substances under the high pressure reduce the operation life of the pumps. Clack valves are important hydraulic part of the pumps. Clack valves are responsible for the whole pump service: pumping head, volumetric efficiency, clearance factor, exploration history.

 

Aims and Objectives:

1.To provide the analysis of drilling piston pumps service and failures experience;

2. To estimate the efficiency of clack valve construction and their wearing parameters.

Results

The analysis of clack valves improvement has shown the dependence between the support metal surface of the valve and construction parameters.

The main areas of valve wearing:

- bearing surface;

- support and mounting surface;

- sealings.

The recommendation is to improve the construction of clack valve in order to prevent its wearing.
